President's Day

The purpose of the blog is to serve as a course exercise in Blog Development

Hello, 3rd Grade Students!

This week we celebrated President's Day on Monday, February 18th. In order to enhance our learning, over the weekend each of you is going to write a post about your favorite President and why they are your favorite. Things to keep in mind while writing your post:
  • What is your favorite President's name?
  • When did they serve as President and for how long?
  • What political party did they represent?
  • Why are they your favorite President?
  • A fun, unique fact about your favorite President
Make sure that you write in complete sentences and use proper punctuation, capitalization, and spelling. We will discuss everyone's posts in class on Monday.

I look forward to reading everyone's responses!

Directions: Over the weekend, write a paragraph about your favorite President. Make sure you that you include facts from each bullet-point above and use correct grammar.

  1. Ronal Reagan is my favorite president. He served as the 40th President of the United States from January 20, 1981- January 20, 1989. President Reagan was a member of the Republican Party. He seemed to listen to the people, had a sense of humor, held leadership qualities, was a great communicator, he admitted his mistakes and moved on. Prior to his presidency Ronald Reagan had a career in radio and film.

  2. Theodore Roosevelt is my favorite president. He served as United States President for almost eight years. He was President from September 14, 1901 to March 4, 1909. President Roosevelt was a member of the Republican Party. He is my favorite president because he was brave and smart enough to care about the small things. President Roosevelt is the first United States President to receive the Noble Peace Prize.

  3. George Washington is currently my favorite president. He was the first president of the United States, and he served from April 30, 1789 to March 4, 1797. Political parties did not particularly exist at that time. I like him because he was one of the founding fathers of the United States and served as a commander-in-chief during the American Revolutionary War. He was America's only founding father to free his slaves.
